How to play the F harmonic minor on bass
The F harmonic minor has 7 notes: F, G, A♭, B♭, C, D♭ and E. Natural minor with the 7th raised a half step. The 7th pulls hard back to the root, and the three-fret gap from ♭6 to 7 gives it an exotic edge.
Step pattern: W H W W H W+H H (W = whole step, two frets; H = half step, one fret). Formula: 1 2 ♭3 4 5 ♭6 7. Relative major: A♭ major scale.
The root, F, is on the 1st fret of the E string and the 8th fret of the A string. On a five-string bass it is also on the 6th fret of the low B string.

When to use it
Minor keys where the V chord is major or dominant 7 (E7 in A minor). Slow down on ♭6 to 7. That gap is a minor 3rd, the stretch your hand has to learn for this scale.
How to practise it
Start with the metronome at 60 BPM in 8th notes, ascending and descending, until you can play it without looking. Raise the tempo 5 BPM at a time with the speed builder, then switch on memory mode so the tab hides after the first loop. Earn bronze for playing it through, silver at 4 notes a second, and gold at that speed from memory.
